ADVICE TO

DANCE COMPETITORS

Before taking part in a competition:

  1. Check the organizer

–  Use the official Checklist for Organizations  https://CID-world.org/international-organizations/

–  Some operators claim CID endorsement – ask the CID to confirm

–  A genuine cultural institution or a business selling awards?

  1. Check the nature of the competition

–  Can anyone compete? No criteria for selection?

–  Are contestants divided into categories, International Certification levels?

–  Enjoying government recognition?

–  Who guarantees that procedures will be fair?

  1. Check the jury

–  Are they very highly qualified dance professionals?

–  Are they really neutral, not having vested interests?

–  Were they appointed by an independent body?

–  Are the jurors called judges or adjudicators to create an impression of impartiality?

  1. Check previous competitions

–  Did they give too many awards, prizes, titles, championsphips?

–  What was the ratio of awards to participants? Did almost everyone win?

–  Did they give receipts of payment? Did they publish a detailed report?

  1. Remember

–  Titles offered by private organizers do not have legal value and are not recognized.

–  Being declared a winner in a small or discredited competition is detrimental to your profile.
